Lights & Sirens International hosted its 3rd Annual Badges & Beanbags Community Outreach Program this past weekend at West End Recreation Center in Providence, RI.
Despite the weather conditions, fifteen young men and women, including the Rec Center staff, state, and local police departments, came together as a community. We broke the tension and lowered our defenses through competitive teamwork in cornhole. As teammates, both law enforcement and community members were able to identify their similarities as human beings. It was amazing to have both sides conduct traffic stop scenarios to see each other perspective and the importance of both sides' safety. Through the assistance of the RI State Police Drone Division, we introduced the purpose of drone technology and its purpose in the law enforcement industry. They brought several types of drones and video footage from loss and rescue, wildfires, surveillance, and car accident reconstruction. Thank you, RI State Police, Providence, Cranston, and Smithfield Police Departments, for your active partnership in recognizing the importance of community engagement and relations with the community.
