Lights & Sirens International performed two presentations and training this week for forty Smithfield Police Department personnel.
We provided the attendees' introductions to our nonprofit organization through board members Chris Mancini and Ibn-Hashim Bakari. We discussed the importance of bridging the gap between law enforcement and minority community, ego, accountability, Implicit bias, profiling, and upcoming community outreach programs. Smithfield Police Department has progressively provided its personnel with cultural training and diversity, equity, and inclusion for nearly 25 years. They are the only agency in Rhode Island that requires incoming personnel to have a bachelor's degree. Our nonprofit organization is grateful for this opportunity as we continue addressing the challenges in changing the narrative and perspective of law enforcement and community relations.
